Where do we learn?

A lecturer asked a question while speaking on “Good Times” and “Difficult or Bad Times”

“What do people want?” Good times or difficult times.

Of course “Good times” we all love it!

So in good times, there is:

  • Happiness – because in everything and in everyone you are happy
  • Love – Being loved by others is so beautiful
  • Success – in life when all is going smoothly
  • Confidence – in everything
  • Pleasant relationships – with everyone
  • Good health – no sickness in the body

The next question is when do you remember “God” the maximum?

In difficult times!  Because we begin to pray and have faith to overcome the problems.

Now ask yourself these questions:

  • When are you more disciplined?
  • When are you more humble?
  • When do you put more efforts?
  • When do you give your best?

We humans tend to somehow learn the above qualities only through hardships because in happiness you could become lazy and indisciplined.

Likewise:

  • Love – can pamper you
  • Success – could give you an ‘ego’
  • Confidence – makes you arrogant
  • Relationship – you could take it for granted
  • And when you are healthy – you are casual

So when you have a stomach upset – you get disciplined and will be careful with what you eat until your stomach is fine again. You are capable of making commitments during difficult times and keeping it; but then when all is well, once again you are back to square one.

  • So good times bring the worst out of you and difficult times brings the best out of you.

In fact, it should be the other way around.

So if in good times you do what you do in difficult times, you will hardly face difficult times.

And God will be there, prayers will be there whether you face good times or bad times. In fact, all the qualities you do in difficult times must be your very nature, so that you may be able to stand up when difficult times come.
