Proverbs 1:7,8.

Start with God

7) Start with God – the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.
8) Pay close attention, friend, to what your father tells you; never forget what you learned at your mother’s knee.

But what if your father wasn’t there to tell you anything at all or he taught you more wrong than right. What if your mother’s knee wasn’t worthy enough to learn anything except that she gave birth to you and let you fend for yourself.

No wonder you have a distorted image of God because parents ought to point to you the Living God and it is He who created you and everything in this world. But when that fails you always end up starting with “you”.

So “I, Me, Myself” “Its my life” is passed on to you by your parents instead of the truth “My life belongs to God”.

And so you think that all those who believe and declare that — God exists, He is real, His word is true, He died and rose again for you and me — are utter fools, then you lack wisdom because it takes wisdom to believe in Him.

Time to face hard reality, not fantasy

Woe to all of you who want God’s Judgment Day!

Why would you want to see God, want him to come?

When God comes, it will be bad news before it’s good news, the worst of times, not the best of times.

Here’s what it’s like: a man runs from a lion right into the jaws of a bear.

A woman goes after a hard day’s work and is raped by a neighbour.

  1. At God’s coming we face hard reality, not fantasy – a black cloud with no silver lining.
